With funding secured from Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Lasair Ealain were excited to launch another new project in February 2009.
This year, Bòrd na Gàidhlig have kindly agreed to further funding which will see Ealain A-muigh launched in news communities across Skye.
Ealain A-muigh is a series of outdoor drawing and painting workshops taught through the medium of Gaelic. As well as involving the whole of Bunsgoil Shlèite, including the nursery, this project will include 4 Saturday workshops which will be open to everyone in the community.
The visual art workshops will focus on the landscape and local environment raising awareness of where people live. Professional artists will teach.
The structure of the day will be as follows:
Drawing outside using soft pencil and sketchbook throughout the morning.
Working on larger scale A1 drawings in charcoal during the afternoon looking at tone, structure and texture.
Discussion about all the drawings together – each person to be able to choose a drawing and say something about it.
As the drawing progresses we will encourage people to begin using watercolour paints so they can start understanding about colour, how colour relationships work, underpainting etc.
